Google\u2019s Bard AI<\/a> chatbot is now available across the EU, following the tech<\/a> giant\u2019s compliance with the bloc\u2019s GDPR regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In June, Google<\/a> was forced to delay Bard\u2019s rollout in the region, after the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) demanded stricter privacy measures to ensure the protection of European citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Today, ahead of the release, the chatbot\u2019s Product Lead Jack Krawczyk said<\/a> that the company has satisfied the DPC demands, providing users with information and control over how their data is being used and stored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGoogle has made a number of changes,\u201d specifically when it comes \u201cto control for users,\u201d the Irish watchdog\u00a0confirmed<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bard\u2019s expansion to the EU (alongside Brazil) also comes with a series of new features<\/a> that Google hopes will increase its competitiveness in the generative AI arms race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Starting today, Bard is available in over 40 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Hindi, and Spanish. Users can also listen to the chatbot\u2019s responses and adjust it\u2019s tone and style to \u201csimple, long, short, professional, or casual.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition, it\u2019s possible to pin and rename conversations, share them with friends, and export Python code to Replit, in addition to GoogleColab. Using images as prompts is now live as well, although currently only in English.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Google Bard\u2019s strongest rivals at the moment are OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT, Microsoft\u2019s Bing AI, and Anthropic\u2019s Claude 2 \u2014 but the list is growing longer by the minute, with both Elon Musk and Meta now having entered the generative AI race.
